All eyes on Milan at the moment, but before we leave London behind I've picked out my top 4 collections. Even though I'm not a LFW-girl I always find some highlights that impresses more than the others – and this time my pickings are more playful than ever! Take a short break from the Italian masterpieces and enjoy this creative collections.
J.W. ANDERSON
Bye bye 70's, 1980's here we come! For the Loewe and the J.W. Anderson designer, Jonathan Anderson, it was all about mix and match in a 80's kind of way. Silhouettes, patterns and fabrics were put together in extraordinary looks – every single look was unique! Mix and match is not really my thing, but in a strange kind of way, some of the ensembles worked for me this time. As Anderson himself described it; the mix and match looks were meant as a celebration of the way women actually use their clothes, slapping ensembles together from bits gathered from here and from there.
BARBARA CASASOLA
A big applause to Barbara Casasola. This must be her best work till now! Spontaneous and playful was the words Casasola used to describe her collection and I couldn't agree more. The pleats and tailoring worked against each other and gave the ensembles a relaxed yet elegant look. I fell in love with the way she played around with the pleats and used it in unexpected ways to break the 'rules'. PS! Check out those ballerinas – yes, please.
TOPSHOP UNIQUE
For a high-street brand to be Topshop really did match the others. From sweet to wild – from dandelion to patent leather and fur coats – the collection had everything a modern woman today needs; both everyday must haves and nightlife companions. The easy wearability of every single garment really makes this collection a place for inspiration. Like the simple turtlenecks and the patent leather minis. They're perfect separate and even better together. And the brown overalls above? Well, my doors are open!
PETER PILOTTO
For me to pick this collection for my top 4 is a big step. As you've probably noticed I'm a simple kind of girl and the color palette in my wardrobe is a bit limited. But that didn't stop my mind from blowing after eyeing this collection. Yes, the colors are great, but that's not it alone, it's the simple silhouettes combined WITH the colors. Even though I won't be matching patterns like Pilotto, I'm definitely going to consider investing in some painterly pieces and wear them with my simple silhouettes.
