Fashion against animal mistreatment – or so it seems? Recently Jane Birkin requested Hermés to remove her name from its famous tote
bag named after her. Now Stella McCartney takes a stand as the second high-profil name to take action against animal cruelty. She has
announced that she will stop using the Patagonian farms where she sources wool used in her collections – with immediate effect – after
PETA presented her with distressing footage showing sheep at the farms being mistreated. "I' am very saddened to report that we have had to
cease sourcing from some of our sustainable wool from Ovis 21 in Patagonia," the designer write on her Instagram. "We found out that 1 og the
26 ranches we used source sustainable wool there, mistreated its sheep. It is one too many," she wrote. Maybe this is a start maybe not,
but at least something is happening in the industry and that's a good thing!
