fashion week highlights
TOP 4 NYFW

New York Fashion Week is already left behind, and London is soon over too, but before we head off to the next city
on the list, let's take a look at some of the highlights from the Big apple – and yes we are talking about some really
good SS16 shows that makes us long for summer already!
Yet again I had to applaud Joseph Altuzarra. After his previous SS collection, where he introduced the super chic
gingham pattern, it's was hard imagining what the next move would be, but the expectations was definitely high.
And guess what, he did it again; the collection was a lesson in peacefulness and harmony. The way Altuzarra used
natural materials as linen, cotton and burlap, to create strong and luxurious classics like blazers, shirts and midi-skirts.
A great contrast to what we consider as normal for fussy, 'formal pieces' like that. Dress jackets and shirts should be
non wrinkly, but according to Altuzarra that rule doesn't count anymore. But the wrinkly classics isn't the only thing
he introduced this time. The high-heeled espadrilles was also a risky step (who doesn't love a pair of classic espadrilles?)
but I have a feeling they will challenge the old classic this summer.
The master of clean lines and silhouettes, did it again, but this time he went back to the 90s for inspiration. The slip
dresses from the Calvin Klein Collection in 1994 were back, but not like they was then. The new slip dresses are more
revealing, but with a touch of grunge; they're slacker, especially at the bust and they have extra straps dangling around.
But it wasn't the dresses that impressed me the most. The disarray wide leg, silk pants matched with the 'thick sole'
sneakers; a combination I'm ready to try out now. And I mean NOW. Congrats Costa, I like the new mix of disarray
 and perfection!
If someone knows how to make sporty elegante it has to be Derek Lam – and that he showed once again! Some of
his signature trenches was back on the runway, and they did good as always, but some of his old classics – with a
new twist of course – could easily take the attention away from the newcomers! I'm talking about the intarsia knit dresses,
the summer layering, the gray denim (which I have to get my hands on ASAP) and my personal favorite, the super
chic beige sweater with bell sleeves. The whole look 5 with that sweater is the dream outfit for spring. The contrast
between the black shirt and the beige sweater gives the ensemble the perfect modern look.
Even though too much details isn't quite my thing, the detail amount at the Edun collection made me reconsider my relation
to details. The tassels on the bottom of the pants, the mesh details on the pockets of a cutted beige blazer and of course
the contrast stitching are all compelling. Not to mention the white contrast buttons on the black off-the-shoulder dress.
While we're on the off-shoulder trend, this new off-the-shoulder that Danielle Sherman just introduced will
definitely sweep the streets when spring arrives. Way to go Danielle!
