The industry is on fire! There is new highlights every day and people are whispering – or actually they're screaming
for MORE. The last fashion week – and probably the one with most surprises, Paris of course – is on, but let's
take a look back at Milan for some minutes because we're definitely not done with yet! The fashion industry still
has one eye back in Italy and one in France, and how can they not when there was a couple of breathtaking
moments back there.
First there was Gucci SS16; a show everyone has been waiting for because let's be honest, who isn't curious about
Alessandro Michele's next moves after he made us all gasp with his fist collection for the house? Well, this time
there was even more Michele. Even more risks; more quirky, much more amplified and randomly decorated. It was
an extension of the geeky girls and boys in what looks like vintage clothes – but totally isn't – collection that he
launched last season, and he succeeded. Again!
Then we had the longed reunion between Roberto Cavalli and Peter Dundas. He is now back where he started, but
with a much heavier bag on his shoulders – and it shows! We kind of knew already before the show that he would
succeed. He has pulled off everything he ever took in his hands; as Vogue Runway says 'he’s proven his talents at
Emanuel Ungaro (doing haute Parisian), Revillon (fur), and Emilio Pucci (sexy rock-chick dressing)'. And now we has
pulled it of again. We have a new Cavalli girl in town, and she is seriously something new. Good new! Dundas has
managed to keep the Cavalli 'undertone' but you can see Dundas shine trough and the result is; a great mix of a
sporty elegance with a 80s touch. We're talking prom skirts matched with bomber jackets! See yourself here.
Last but not least, Milan Fashion Week isn't done till Stefano Gabbana and Domenico Dolce is done! And these two
really knows how to close the doors. The SS16 collection itself doesn't even need much of an explanation; it was
Italian style and culture perfectly adopted into beautiful and playful creations – that's just Dolce & Gabbana in a nutshell.
But the show needs to be explained though, and who does it better than one of the magician behind the magic. “We don’t
believe in fashion for trends any more. We want to show emotion. Just enjoy!” said Domenico backstage while
prepping the models and being observed by Vogue. A couple of minutes later the models walked out on the runway and
believe it or not, fashion as we knew it just vanished. The models started taking selfies while showing off the
modern Dolce girls, full of confidence! Bravo Dolce, bravo Gabbana!
